The Perkins Pirates will head out to take on the Bellevue Redmen at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Perkins will be strutting in after a win while Bellevue will be coming in after a defeat.
Perkins will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against Sandusky on Friday. The Pirates blew past the Blue Streaks 16-6.
Caden McClellan was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Perkins got a massive performance out of Quanise Rogers, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Hailey Brunner, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Bellevue's offense. They fell just short of Columbian by a score of 2-0 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Redmen have suffered since May 6, 2024.
Bellevue saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Payton Hicks, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Perkins' record now sits at 4-6. As for Bellevue, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Perkins has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bellevue struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Perkins couldn't quite finish off Bellevue in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 7-5. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
