The Mulberry Panthers posted their biggest victory yet this season on Friday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 63-21 victory over Hardee. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-17.
It was another big night for Lorianys Castanon Cruz, who scored 37 points. That makes it ten consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Mulberry's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alana Standifer, who scored 11 points.
Hardee's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jazlynn Jones, who scored eight points, and Rihanna Frederick who scored four points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Mulberry and bumps their season record up to 8-2. As for Hardee, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.
Mulberry will head out on the road to square off against Lakeland Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakeland Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Hardee, Hardee and Lake Placid will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lake Placid is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
