Pacific Grove took a 58-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Carmel. Pacific Grove has not had much luck with Carmel recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Pacific Grove lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Benjamin Liddell, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Liddell set a new season high mark in steals with two. Oliver Ottmar was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Pacific Grove struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Pacific Grove's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Carmel, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
Pacific Grove will head out on the road to face off against Soquel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Soquel's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests. Carmel will take on Scotts Valley in a holiday battle at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at. Scotts Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 681st, while Carmel is ranked 273rd).
