Basketball Recap: Edgewood Sets Scoring Season-High Against Pomona

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Edgewood). They really took it to the Pomona Red Devils for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-24 win. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-11.

Defeat or not, Pomona got some senior leadership from Matthew Medina and Alex Mejia. Medina posted 12 points, while Mejia scored six points along with 12 rebounds and three blocks. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for Medina. The team also got some help courtesy of Carmine Carrillo, who put up five points and 12 rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Edgewood and bumps their season record up to 8-12. As for Pomona, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Edgewood will challenge La Puente at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pomona, they will face off against Ganesha at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pomona is facing Ganesha at the right time seeing as Ganesha is stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
