Taylor Stalling made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Stalling was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Gulf Coast got a big performance out of Nelinka Lambcke, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Hannah Rearden, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Gulf Coast kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Barron Collier got the win against Bonita Springs on Thursday by a conclusive 16-1. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Leena Forbes looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.
At the plate, Gianna Frino was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Kinn, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Gulf Coast's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Barron Collier, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.
Everything went Gulf Coast's way against Barron Collier when the teams last played last Friday, as Gulf Coast made off with a 19-5 victory. Will Gulf Coast repeat their success, or does Barron Collier has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
