Softball Recap: Palmer Trinity Wins Going Away Against Braddock

Palmer Trinity won the last time they faced Braddock and things went their way on Thursday too. The Falcons put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 13-2 win. Considering the Falcons have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Emily 'Emmy' Cerda made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Kinsey Cerda was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last 13 games she's played. Mela Fajardo also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Palmer Trinity always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February.

Palmer Trinity has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Braddock, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-5.

Looking ahead, Palmer Trinity will head out to take on Miami Springs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons are facing the Golden Hawks at the right time seeing as the Golden Hawks are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Braddock, they will welcome Ferguson at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season.
