Given Dawson's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 672nd, while Penelope is ranked 1413th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dawson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Callie Marberry, who scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Azarei Young was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 4 steals.
Dawson's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Penelope, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Dawson will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Frost at 5:30 p.m. on December 2nd. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Frost: 18.7, Dawson: 20.6) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Penelope, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Community Christian at 8:00 p.m.
