The Ursuline Academy Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the West Clermont Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The pair are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Ursuline Academy had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Clermont Northeastern 44-22. That looming 44-22 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Ursuline Academy yet this season.
Meanwhile, West Clermont got the win against the Eagles on Thursday by a conclusive 59-39.
West Clermont found their leader in underclassman Layla Hale, who scored 30 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hale has scored at least a third of West Clermont's points. Another player making a difference was Paige Rodriguez, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Ursuline Academy's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-15. As for West Clermont, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
Ursuline Academy came up short against the Wolves in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 48-36. Thankfully for Ursuline Academy, Anna Swisshelm (who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
