The La Villa Cardinals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They took a serious blow against Kaufer, falling 82-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat La Villa has suffered since December 16, 2023.
Kaufer got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cesar Silva out in front who scored 22 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Silva scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Mascorro, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds.
La Villa's loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-20. As for Kaufer, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-14 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Santa Maria the next time they take the court. La Villa will host Santa Maria at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, while Kaufer will head out to face them at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
