The McCormick Chiefs will head out on the road to face off against the Saluda Tigers at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. McCormick will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
McCormick has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 23 points or more this season. They blew past Whitmire 65-29 on the road. 65 seems to be a good number for McCormick as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
McCormick's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Terrence Cartledge, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Darius Houston, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Saluda's 18-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They lost to Strom Thurmond on the road by a decisive 57-40 margin on Friday. Saluda has struggled against Strom Thurmond recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
McCormick pushed their record up to 9-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Saluda, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
McCormick strolled past Saluda when the teams last played on December 1st by a score of 60-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for McCormick since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
