The Hillcrest Christian Cougars stacked a 16th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They breezed by Prairie View Academy on the road to the tune of 81-17. Winning may never get old, but Hillcrest Christian sure is getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Leading Hillcrest Christian to victory were Darius Barnes and Ryan Bradley. Barnes scored 16 points along with five steals, while Bradley scored 18 points along with six rebounds and five steals. It was the first time this season that Barnes scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Ethan Battle, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Hillcrest Christian is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 19 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. As for Prairie View Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-9.
Hillcrest Christian will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Saints at 7:45 p.m. on February 6th. Prentiss Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 298th, while the Cougars are ranked 93rd). As for Prairie View Academy, they will face off against the Lions at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Lamar Christian will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
