It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Leigh Longhorns had no problem doing just that on Friday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 21-20 victory over North Salinas. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Leigh was the better team in the second half.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Leigh to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shayan Shariat, who rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown. Ben Varnell was another key contributor, picking up 108 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Leigh is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for North Salinas, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.
Leigh will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Palo Alto at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. North Salinas does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
