Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only First Baptist Academy walked away with it. They won by a goal and slipped past the Stingrays 2-1. First Baptist Academy wouldn't have won without Kaylee Bates, who scored the game-winner.
Meanwhile, Shorecrest Prep has not lost a match since December 5, 2023, a trend which continued in their latest game on Friday. They put the hurt on Carrollwood Day with a sharp 4-1 win. Four seems to be a good number for Shorecrest Prep as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of goals in their previous game.
First Baptist Academy pushed their record up to 13-5-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those five games. As for Shorecrest Prep, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2-4 record this season.
First Baptist Academy might still be hurting after the 4-0 loss they got from Shorecrest Prep in their previous matchup back in February of 2022. Can First Baptist Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
