Crenshaw (Los Angeles, Calif.) received a huge boost from its defense against Venice (Los Angeles, Calif.), as the unit scored 12 in defeating Venice (Los Angeles, Calif.), 59-10.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Ajene Harris to
Mossi Johnson in the second quarter, the Cougars led 35-3 at the half.
Crenshaw expanded its lead to 42 points entering the fourth quarter. CHS scored three times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by
Corey Walker.
The loss snapped the Gondoliers' 9-game winning streak.
The Cougars' most effective player was Walker. The junior ran for three touchdowns.
Alijah Lee played well for Venice. The junior running back ran for one touchdown.
VHS's lone touchdown came on a 1-yard run by Lee in the third quarter.
Crenshaw came into the game allowing 13.9 points per game. The Gondoliers came in giving up 14.3 points per game this season.
The defeat comes as a step back for Venice, which notched a 27-24 victory over San Pedro in its previous outing.
