The Savannah Country Day Hornets will head out on the road to take on the Hilton Head Christian Academy Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, everything went Savannah Country Day's way against the Blue Tide as the Hornets made off with a 47-27 victory. Given Savannah Country Day's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Blue Tide are ranked 362nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Hilton Head Christian Academy took their matchup at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 69-29 win over the Dolphins.
Hilton Head Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Devon Yarde, who scored 21 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. Yarde hasn't dropped below 20 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Tamya Hutchinson, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Savannah Country Day is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Hilton Head Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.
Savannah Country Day suffered a grim 52-28 defeat to the Eagles in their previous meeting back in January of 2020. Can Savannah Country Day avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
