The Elm Creek Buffaloes won the last time they faced the Gibbon Buffaloes, and things went their way on Thursday too. Elm Creek simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Gibbon 62-9 on the road. That looming 62-9 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Elm Creek yet this season.
It was another big night for Ashley Bauer, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Teagan Mcdaniel was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Brooke Sell and Emma Clark certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Sell scored three points along with four blocks, while Clark scored two points. Sell is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Gibbon struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Elm Creek posted ten assists.
The win makes it two in a row for Elm Creek and bumps their season record up to 6-3. As for Gibbon, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Elm Creek will finish 2023 at home by hosting Bertrand at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Bertrand will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while Elm Creek is ranked 69th). Gibbon won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Arcadia/Loup City at 11:00 a.m. on December 29th. Arcadia/Loup City is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
