The Plainview Pirates waltzed into their game on Saturday with five straight wins but they left with six. Everything went their way against Wausa as Plainview made off with a 49-28 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-12.
Plainview got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Teya Boyer out in front who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Abbie Kromarek was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six assists and six steals.
Despite the loss, Wausa saw an underclassman step up: Taylor Dawson scored 12 points along with five steals. Dawson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Reagan Gillilan, who scored five points along with four steals.
Plainview is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Wausa, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plainview will take on the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wakefield is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Wausa, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m.
