The Pasco Pirates suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 73-31 loss at the hands of Sunlake. While losing is never fun, Pasco can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 640th, while Sunlake is ranked 270th).
Pasco lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sidney Allen, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Miller, who scored seven points.
Pasco struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Christopher Murray was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds for Sunlake. Murray has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Brown, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Pasco has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Sunlake, they pushed their record up to 11-7 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Pasco will square off against River Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sunlake, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate will be looking to extend their current 13-game winning streak.
