The Fuquay - Varina Bengals will head out on the road to square off against the Smithfield-Selma Spartans at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Meanwhile, Smithfield-Selma didn't have quite enough to beat Southern Wayne on Wednesday and fell 3-2.
Smithfield-Selma was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Southern Wayne work for it, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 23-25, 27-25, 25-18, 19-25, 15-10.
Fuquay - Varina will need to focus on slowing down Karmen Cyrus, one of several Smithfield-Selma players who made an impact when they last played. She had 32 assists. Another player making a difference was Kaylie Gilyardi, who had 17 kills.
Fuquay - Varina's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Smithfield-Selma, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.
Everything went Fuquay - Varina's way against Smithfield-Selma when the teams last played back in September, as Fuquay - Varina made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bengals since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
