Carbon has won three straight games at home, while Duchesne has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Dinos will host the Eagles at 3:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Carbon hadn't beaten North Sanpete on the road since April 14, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Dinos came out on top against the Hawks by a score of 5-1.
Danica Adams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 19 Ks.
At the plate, Carbon saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aleece Ardohain, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Kennlee Kennedy was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Duchesne made easy work of San Juan two weeks ago and carried off a 13-1 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by eight runs or more this season.
Kira Grant made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Grant was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. She has been hot, having posted two or more stolen bases the last five times she's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lorisa Mower, who scored a run while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madi Larsen, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Duchesne always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Juan only posted an OBP of .211.
Duchesne has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Carbon, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Carbon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Duchesne struggles in that department as they've averaged .418. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Carbon might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Duchesne in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Dinos have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
