Basketball Recap: Twin Peaks Classical Academy Piles Up the Points Against Ascent Classical Academy Northern Colorado

Twin Peaks Classical Academy's tournament run continued when they took on Ascent Classical Academy Northern Colorado on Saturday. The Twin Peaks Classical Academy Timberwolves really took it to the Ascent Classical Academy Northern Colorado Archers for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-27 win. With the Timberwolves ahead 46-14 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Twin Peaks Classical Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Angel Ortega out in front who went 7 for 14 on his way to 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Wurth, who posted 11 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals.

Twin Peaks Classical Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ascent Classical Academy Northern Colorado only pulled down four offensive rebounds.

Several Archers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Treven Porter, who put up seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter MacAlmon, who had seven points.

Twin Peaks Classical Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Ascent Classical Academy Northern Colorado, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Coincidentally, Twin Peaks Classical Academy and Ascent Classical Academy Northern Colorado will both be playing Nederland the next time they take the court. Ascent Classical Academy Northern Colorado will host Nederland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Twin Peaks Classical Academy will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
