The Rifle Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher  on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Steamboat Springs, falling  71-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest  defeat Rifle has suffered  against Steamboat Springs since February 20, 2020.
 Despite the loss, Rifle still got an impressive performance from   Logan Gross, who  scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Adan Medina, who  scored six points.
  Jeffrey Sturges continued  his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Steamboat Springs,  going 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 2 assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which  Sturges has scored at least a third of Steamboat Springs' points. Another player making a difference was  Charlie Reisman, who  scored 12 points.
 Rifle bumped their record down to 2-10 with that  loss, which was their fourth straight  at home. As for Steamboat Springs, their win  ended a three-game drought on the road  and  puts them at 5-6.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rifle and Delta will face off  at 6:00  p.m.  on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. That game will pit two of the most dominant  players against one another:  Tucker Johnson and  Gross. As for Steamboat Springs, Steamboat Springs and Aspen will face off  at 7:00  p.m.  on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Aspen knows how to get  points on the board -- the  squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Steamboat Springs likes a good challenge.
