Cody Puzio had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 112 yards and four TDs on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 68 yards and one touchdown. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in October of 2024. Berlin also got a significant boost from Brandon Sadowski, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 93 yards.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Berlin proved: they limited Farmington to a paltry 0.5 yards per carry. While six picked up at least two total tackles, Sadowski stood above the rest. He rushed for 93 yards on only seven carries. Berlin didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.3.
Meanwhile, Edwin O. Smith strolled past Bristol Eastern with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 24-8. The Panthers have beaten the Lancers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Lancers has come to flipping the script.
A big part of Edwin O. Smith's win came down to the chemistry between Sean Podosek and his top target Joey Baker. Podosek threw for 193 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Baker picked up 85 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Podosek's passing game has become a key predictor of Edwin O. Smith's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-5 otherwise.
Berlin's record now sits at 8-0. As for Edwin O. Smith, their record is now 3-5.
Friday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Berlin has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 220.5 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Edwin O. Smith, though, as they've been averaging only 48.4 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
