The Minarets Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Woodlake Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Minarets will be hoping to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
Minarets can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 42-19 margin over Yosemite.
Minarets found their leader in underclassman Torin Wolf, who rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and also threw for 85 yards and a touchdown. Joey Lamadrid was in the mix too, providing Minarets with two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Minarets' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. Leading the way was Paxton Tovsrud and his five sacks.
Meanwhile, Woodlake entered their tilt with Granite Hills with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Woodlake simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Granite Hills 41-7 on the road. With Woodlake ahead 41-7 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Woodlake can attribute much of their success to Isaiah Taylor, who rushed for 75 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries.
Minarets' victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Woodlake, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Minarets has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 147.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Woodlake struggles in that department as they've been even better at 165.9 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
