This season hasn't been kind to the Duval Charter Panthers, who are still winless after their seventh match. They had to suffer through a rough 90-19 loss at the hands of St. Johns Country Day. Duval Charter was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 63-13.
It was another big night for Mary Kate Kent, who shot 5-for-14 from deep and dropped a double-double on 46 points and 16 steals for St. Johns Country Day. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kent has scored all season. Sophia Mejias was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with four steals.
Duval Charter's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.2 points per game. As for St. Johns Country Day, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-4.
Duval Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now. St. Johns Country Day will look to defend their home court on Monday against Fletcher at 6:30 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Jasmine Cross and Kent.
