The Medina Mustangs entered their tilt with the Maryvale Flyers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. It was close, but on WednesdayMedina capped 2023 with a 53-51 win over Maryvale. For Medina, this counts as revenge for the 46-43 defeat Maryvale walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2015.
Medina's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christian Moss, who scored five points along with six rebounds and five steals. Moss also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jerrell Nealy, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and five steals.
Medina now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Maryvale, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Medina will play host again and welcome East Rochester, where tip off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Friday. East Rochester is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Maryvale, they will face off against Pembroke at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
