Softball Recap: Chardon Takes a Loss

After flying high against Mayfield on Monday, Chardon came back down to earth. The Hilltoppers fell just short of the Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Lions by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday. The Hilltoppers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Addison Novak made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. Gia Sharaba was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Chardon dropped their record down to 10-9 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chardon will head out to square off against Mayfield at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hilltoppers are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, they will venture away from home to take on Beaumont School at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (the Lions have four straight victories, the Blue Streaks have three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
