The Discovery Canyon Thunder will face off against the Liberty Lancers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Discovery Canyon comes in on nine and Liberty on four.
Last Saturday, Discovery Canyon earned a 66-55 win over Rampart. Given the Thunder's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while the Rams are ranked 90th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Discovery Canyon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Micah Rohacs, who went 7 for 10 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Rohacs a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mitchell Vorwaller, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Liberty hadn't done well against Air Academy recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Liberty took down Air Academy 64-48. While the Lancers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Liberty's win came from a few key players Discovery Canyon will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cameron Cunningham, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Akai Council, who posted 12 points and five assists.
Liberty pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.7 points per game. As for Discovery Canyon, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Discovery Canyon has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 31.9 boards per game. However, it's not like Liberty struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.7 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything went Discovery Canyon's way against Liberty when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as Discovery Canyon made off with a 62-39 victory. Does Discovery Canyon have another victory up their sleeve, or will Liberty turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
