Baseball Recap: South Central Triumphs

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Central). They blew past the Whiting Oilers 15-3 on Wednesday. The Satellites not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 17, 2024.

Taye Falls and Nolan Eaton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Falls struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Eaton tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At bat, Falls scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Eaton scored three runs while going 2-for-4. Falls also put up a triple, which was his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Hunter Leuck looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, Nolan Jones was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He also brought in three RBI, marking his first of the season. Wyatt Doll was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.

South Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Whiting only posted a batting average of .150.

South Central's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Whiting, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Coming up, South Central will be playing in front of their home fans against Morgan Township at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cherokees have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Satellites will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Whiting, they will head out to challenge Highland at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
