Boca Ciega is 2-8 against Lakewood since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Boca Ciega Pirates' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Lakewood Spartans at 8:00 p.m. on December 21st. One thing working in Boca Ciega's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
Boca Ciega has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 21 points or more this season. They blew past Admiral Farragut 66-43. The victory was just what Boca Ciega needed coming off of a 93-65 loss in their prior contest.
Kaleb Oriol continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with nine rebounds. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jelani Nix, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lakewood's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Gibbs 73-31. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lakewood has scored all season.
Boca Ciega's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Lakewood, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Boca Ciega might still be hurting after the 61-38 defeat they got from Lakewood in their previous matchup back in January. Can Boca Ciega avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
