Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Beaumont). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Rancho Mirage Rattlers 56-0. The high-scoring effort was just what the Cougars needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Beaumont found their leader in sophomore Tessa Martinez, who threw for 219 yards and three touchdowns on only 18 passes. Lillyana Nunez was another key player, picking up 105 receiving yards and one TD.
Beaumont didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Mia Gomez and Jade Jasso. Kiera Houston was another major factor on D, making five total tackles (5.0 for loss).
Beaumont's victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
Coming up, Beaumont will be playing at home against Shadow Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Cougars 3.4, the Knights 6.5) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Rancho Mirage, they will head out to take on Cathedral City at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
