Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Clay Center Tigers, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell just short of Cheney by a score of 23-21. Clay Center's loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Clay Center's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Cole Pladson, who threw for 148 yards and two touchdowns. Brody Hayes also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Clay Center's loss dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Cheney, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Clay Center does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cheney is on the road again on Friday and play against Andale at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Andale knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Cheney likes a good challenge.
