AAAAAA Region 6 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Chattahoochee scored a stunning upset when it knocked off West Forsyth, 29-28. At the time, the Wolverines were ranked fifth in the state, while the Cougars were 87th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to West Forsyth, who took down fifth ranked West Forsyth, 29-28.
Centennial's dynamic duo of Chase Rosenberg and Christian Robinson proved tough for North Forsyth to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Rosenberg threw for 301 yards and three touchdowns and Robinson had 154 yards receiving. Caden Herring helped Centennial's passing attack out by catching seven balls for 96 yards.
A.J. Erdely provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Wolverines fell to Chattahoochee. He completed 16 passes for 236 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 72 yards. Erdely's favorite target this week was Jake Wieczorek, who caught eight passes for 106 yards.
Tanner Bridges made the biggest impact on defense this week as West Forsyth lost to the Cougars. The 5-foot-10 senior grabbed one interception.
Wieczorek was the most productive running back in AAAAAA Region 6 this week. He ran for 131 yards on 12 carries as the Wolverines bested the Raiders. Trevor O'Brien also contributed to the rushing game with 82 yards on the ground.
Centennial's Rosenberg and Robinson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Rosenberg has thrown for 1655 yards this season, while Robinson, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 65 catches for 910 yards. Erdely from West Forsyth leads the league in rushing with 707 yards.
Jeff Carlberg's team's Robinson is a few successful plays short of surpassing 1,000 yards receiving this season. He needs only 90 receiving yards against Alpharetta to hit that benchmark.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Chattahoochee takes on Lambert. The Cougars are in fourth place, while the Longhorns are in third place.
The Raiders extended the longest winning streak in AAAAAA Region 6 this week by beating Lambert, 35-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
