It was a good run, but the San Jose Prep Storm unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 65-48 to Ponte Vedra. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points San Jose Prep has scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ponte Vedra to victory, but perhaps none more so than David Sanchez Barrera, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and seven assists. That's the first time this season that Sanchez Barrera pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tyler Cowan, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
San Jose Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Ponte Vedra, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. San Jose Prep will take on Creekside at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Ponte Vedra, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Bartram Trail at 7:30 p.m. Bartram Trail will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 324th, while Ponte Vedra is ranked 88th).
