A well-balanced attack led the Pecatonica Indians over the Dakota Indians in every quarter on their way to victory on Monday. Pecatonica took down the Indians 54-38. Given Pecatonica's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Indians are ranked 448th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madison Binder, who scored nine points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Peyton Woodsmall, who scored nine points.
Pecatonica pushed their record up to 22-5 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Dakota, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-16.
Pecatonica won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th. Lena-Winslow and the Indians are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Dakota, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m.
