Softball Recap: Guilford Has No Trouble Against Sheehan

Guilford lost to Sheehan back in April, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Grizzlies blew past the Titans 10-3. That's two games straight that the Grizzlies have won by exactly seven runs.

Sarah O'Brien made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Peton Lemay and Ella Munson did most of the damage at the plate: Lemay went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Munson got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Munson has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Kennadie Tansey, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Guilford and bumps their season record up to 10-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Sheehan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Guilford will venture away from home to challenge North Haven at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Grizzlies are facing the Nighthawks at the right time seeing as the Nighthawks are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Sheehan, they are taking a road trip to square off against Mercy at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Titans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
