Parker hasn't had much luck against River Valley recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Broncs will head out on the road to take on the Dust Devils at 5:00 p.m. Parker has given up an average of 13.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Parker managed to slip by Kingman the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Broncs came up short against the Bulldogs on Monday, falling 18-5. The Broncs' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask River Valley). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Odyssey Institute a 16-0 shutout on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Dust Devils, who have now won five matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Sophia Reyes made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Reyes was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaelynne Niswonger, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Lovie Phan was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
River Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. They are undefeated (7-0) when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
River Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Parker, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8-1.
Parker might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from River Valley when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Broncs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
