Los Lunas has been on the road for seven straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Artesia Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Los Lunas was able to grind out a solid win over Belen, taking the game 34-27. Given Los Lunas' advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Belen is ranked 86th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Artesia can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Chaparral 88-39 on the road. Artesia's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Los Lunas now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Artesia, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-3.
Los Lunas beat Artesia 62-49 in their previous matchup back in December of 2018. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Artesia's Paityn Houghtaling, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Now that she won't be playing on Thursday, will it be that much easier for Los Lunas to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
