Bear River has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The Colfax Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Colfax took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Bear River, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Bear River was able to grind out a solid victory over Wheatland, taking the game 21-14. The win was just what Bear River needed coming off of a 21-0 loss in their prior contest.
The critical scores for Bear River came from Brady Moorlag and Blake Simning.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Colfax, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 36-21 loss to Twelve Bridges on Friday. While losing is never fun, Colfax can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 354th, while Twelve Bridges is ranked 118th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Malachi Thompson, who rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns. Austin Liden was another key contributor, gaining 99 total yards and a touchdown.
Bear River now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Colfax, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 5-4.
Things could have been worse for Bear River, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 30-13 loss to Colfax in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Bear River avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
