Basketball Recap: Lower Richland Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Lower Richland hadn't done well against Wilson recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Lower Richland Diamond Hornets secured a 64-58 W over the Wilson Tigers. The victory was familiar territory for the Diamond Hornets who have now won four matchups in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lower Richland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Taelor Hiller-Johnson, who went 8 for 10 on her way to 19 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Hiller-Johnson a new career-high in points. Mikayla Foster was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zoey Miller, who went 8 of 17 on her way to 24 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Spears, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 14 points and three steals.

Lower Richland pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points per game. As for Wilson, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 12-4.

Lower Richland will face off against Lakewood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lower Richland is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59 points per game this season. As for Wilson, they will challenge South Florence at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wilson also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 53.7 points per game.
