It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Cheyenne Desert Shields ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top against Somerset Sky Pointe by a score of 75-68. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Leading Cheyenne to victory were Cordae Feazell and Caris Neal. Feazell scored 19 points along with five assists, while Neal dropped a double-double on 13 points and 18 rebounds. Neal also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Carlo Navarro was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Cheyenne and bumps their season record up to 6-14. As for Somerset Sky Pointe, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.
Cheyenne won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Valley at 6:30 p.m. on January 25th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Valley is ranked 50th, while Cheyenne is ranked 67th). Somerset Sky Pointe's road trip will continue as they head out to face Amplus Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 29th. Amplus Academy has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 28.
