Kentridge is 2-8 against Kennedy Catholic since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Chargers will face off against the Lancers at 3:30 p.m. Kentridge's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Kennedy Catholic's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Kentridge's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Auburn. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Jozi Thompson and Genesis Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Thompson struck out ten batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Miller pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Thompson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Thompson got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles, while Miller went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most doubles Thompson has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rylee Souvannahvanh, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Naomi Benavides, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Kentridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Auburn only posted an OBP of .062.
Meanwhile, Kennedy Catholic came up short against Mt. Rainier on Tuesday and fell 8-3. The Lancers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Kennedy Catholic saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Megan Wintermute, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Kentridge and bumps their season record up to 10-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Kennedy Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.
Kennedy Catholic's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Kentridge has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Kennedy Catholic, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will Kentridge keep running through batters, or will the Lancers buck the trend?
Kentridge took their win against Kennedy Catholic in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
