The Piper Bengals had to start their season on the road on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell to Cooper City 43-38. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Piper in their matchups with Cooper City: they've now lost three in a row.
Several Bengals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jazell Charles, who scored 14 points. Tahlia Dolce was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
Eliana Reese went supernova for Cooper City, scoring 16 points along with 8 assists and 8 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Riollana, who scored 4 points along with 9 rebounds and 9 steals.
Piper's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Cooper City, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Piper will challenge Coral Glades at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cooper City, they will head out on the road to face off against West Broward at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
