Stacy Jennings was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two triples and four RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in triples.
In other batting news, Sam Aguilar was a standout: she scored five runs and stole Six bases. while going 4-for-5. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had over her last 13 contests. Chauncey Guerrero was another key player, scoring six runs while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Ryan unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against Birdville, falling 8-1. The game marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Olivia Buettner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks.
Richland pushed their record up to 10-3-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Ryan, their loss dropped their record down to 10-2.
Both Richland and Ryan just can't seem to miss. Richland has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Ryan struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Richland took their win against Ryan when the teams last played back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 13-3. Does Richland have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ryan turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
