The Hackley Hornets are on the road again on Saturday and play against the Fieldston Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on October 21st. Hopefully Hackley is not getting complacent, as they comes into the match much higher ranked than Fieldston in New York (Hackley is ranked 63rd, while Fieldston is ranked 361st).
Last Saturday, Hackley came up short against Riverdale Country and fell 28-19.
Meanwhile, Fieldston sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-9 win over Horace Mann on Saturday.
Marcus Cooper-Leary was the offensive standout of the game as he picked up 90 receiving yards and a touchdown. Henry Kaiden did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 86 receiving yards.
Hackley's loss was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 3-3. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 6.86 points per game. As for Fieldston, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Hackley might still be hurting after the 27-2 defeat they got from Fieldston when the teams last played back in September of 2022. Can Hackley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
