Valley is 0-4 against Berthoud since January of 2023 but things could change on Friday. The Valley Vikings will challenge the Berthoud Spartans at 6:30 p.m. Berthoud took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Valley, who comes in off a win.
Valley took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Wray by a score of 37-30.

Nevaeh Jimenez was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 11 points and 20 boards. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brianna Orona, who posted six points and eight boards.
Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Berthoud suffered their closest defeat since December 18, 2023 on Thursday. They fell just short of Timnath by a score of 68-65. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Cubs are ranked 35th).
Valley will have to keep a close watch on Avery Pfohl and Sofia Sigg, a pair of players who had a big impact on Berthoud's prior game. Pfohl went 9-for-17 to rack up 30 points and eight rebounds, while Sigg shot 55% from the field en route to 14 points along with six boards and five assists. That's the most points Pfohl has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Violet Hidalgo, who put up six points.
Valley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-9. As for Berthoud, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Valley has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Berthoud struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Valley ended up a good deal behind Berthoud in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, losing 57-39. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Pfohl, who went 13-for-16 on her way to 31 points and three steals. Now that Valley knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
