The LKY Saints will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the Evansville HomeSchool R Racers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. LKY knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Evansville HomeSchool R likes a good challenge.
LKY is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest loss since February 22nd on Saturday. They fell just short of Bluegrass by a score of 67-65. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (63), the Saints still had to take the loss.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Marshall McCartney, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Armani, who went 6-for-11 en route to 14 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Evansville HomeSchool R was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-42 heartbreaker at the hands of Christian Educational Consortium. The contest marked the Racers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Like LKY, Evansville HomeSchool R lost despite seeing results from several players. Nolan Oldham led the charge by shooting 47% from the field on his way to 21 points and six boards. Oldham has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Max Baumberger was another key player, putting up 12 points.
LKY now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Evansville HomeSchool R, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: LKY has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Evansville HomeSchool R struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.6 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for LKY against Evansville HomeSchool R in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 59-29 victory. In that matchup, the Saints amassed a halftime lead of 33-4, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
