Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Loss Ends Freer's Winning Streak

After a string of four wins, Freer's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Cotulla Cowboys by a score of 55-53. The Buckaroos were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cowboys from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

Freer lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Dehondre Hayes, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten boards. With that strong performance, Hayes is now averaging an impressive 16.9 points per game. Another player making a difference was Ayden Ramirez, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

Freer's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-2. As for Cotulla, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Freer will be taking part in a tournament against McMullen County at 8:15 a.m. on Thursday. Freer is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.4 points per game this season. Cotulla will take on Lytle in a holiday battle at 7:15 p.m. on December 17th at.
