Rim of the World won the last time they faced Perris, and Tatum Ortiz did his part to make sure it happened again. The Fighting Scots breezed past the Panthers to the tune of 55-21 on Friday for which the team can thank Ortiz, who rushed for 277 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.6 yards per carry. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 188 rushing yards dating back to last season.
Another player making a difference was Eli Stiansen, who rushed for 91 yards and one TD on only five carries. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making four total tackles.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Rim of the World's defense and their seven sacks. Sergio Victorio was especially locked on to Perris' QB and sacked him three times. Rim of the World received some extra help from Jason Hernandez, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Despite the loss, Perris saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Xavier Cruz threw for 114 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes, and also rushed for 104 yards on only six carries.
Rim of the World has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 45.0 points this season. As for Perris, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
