The Northampton Blue Devils will head out on the road to take on Springfield International at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Northampton came up short against the Golden Eagles and fell 61-48. Northampton has struggled against the Golden Eagles recently, as their contest on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Springfield International's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 59-41 bruising from Central. While losing is never fun, Springfield International can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked third).
Springfield International's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Zahara Kibodya-Wilson, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Alexa Davis who scored 12 points along with four blocks and three steals. Giavanna Mars was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Northampton's record is now 3-2. Springfield International's record is now 8-5.
Everything came up roses for Northampton against the in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 77-50 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northampton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
